The Board of Trustees - Structure and Composition

The Weber Fire District Board of Trustees includes:

 

Elected Representation

  • Four (4) members elected at large from the unincorporated areas of Weber County.

 

Municipal Appointments

  • Six (7) members appointed by the following municipalities:
    • Farr West City
    • Hooper City
    • Huntsville Town
    • Marriott-Slaterville City
    • Ogden Valley City
    • West Haven City
    • Uintah City

Board Meetings

 

The Board meets monthly​, typically on the second Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at:

Meetings generally last about two (2) hours.

​

Board members receive compensation for regularly scheduled meetings at a rate approved by the Board.

 

Roles and Governance​

​

Board duties and responsibilities are established by:​​

  • Utah State Statute, and

  • Board-established by laws.

​

The District is led by a Fire Chief, supported by:

  • Deputy Chiefs

  • Division Chiefs

  • Fire Marshals

  • Professional and administrative staff

​

District Overview

​

The Weber Fire District protects approximately 515 square miles, including:

  • Unincorporated areas of Weber County
  • Seven (7) cities with appointed representation listed above.

​

We provide fire operations, emergency and non-emergency medical services, hazardous materials teams, technical rescue teams, wildland division, tactical SWAT team members, as well as community prevention and education, and all related services from six (6) full-time fire stations.​

  • Station 61 - 2023 W 1300 N, Farr West
  • Station 62 - 5500 E 2200 N, Eden​
  • Station 63 - 4646 W 4000 S, West Haven
  • Station 64 - 2175 E. Eastwood Blvd., Uintah
    • Station 264 - ​2405 Bell Ln., Uintah (Wildland Division)
  • Station 65 - 7925 E 500 S, Huntsville,
  • Station 66 - 3641 W 2200 S, Ogden (Taylor/West Weber Area)​

 

Board Member Qualifications

​

Per Utah Code 17B-1-302:

Board Members must:

  • Be registered voters in the area where they reside.
  • Live within the boundaries of the District (and within the electing division, if applicable).

 

Board Member Employment Restrictions

​

Per Utah Code 17B-1-311:

  • No elected or appointed board member may be employed by the District while serving.
  • No District employee or contracted worker may serve on the District Board of Trustees.

 

Board Member Terms of Office

​

Per Utah Code 17B-1-303:

  • Terms begin at noon on January 1 following election or appointment.
  • Terms last four (4) years.
  • There is no limit to the number of terms a member may serve.

 

Board Member Eligibility Restrictions

​

Per Utah Code 20A-9-203:

Individuals may not hold public office if they are:

  • Mentally incompetent.
  • Convicted of a felony.
  • Convicted of treason or a crime against the elective franchise.

Eligibility may be restored only as outlined in 20A-2-101.3 or 20A-2-101.5​

What Does the Board of Trustees Do?

Board members:​​

  • Make policy decisions.

  • Approve budgets and major expenditures.

  • Help guide the District direction and priorities.

  • Support the mission to Care, Prepare, Respond.
